Cornish: Day 27

Sorry for always late updates. This update is for last Friday.

Foundations wasn’t much of anything.  It was the final teacher presentations of their work, which is always interesting, and for some reason really made me want to go to Montana some day to take photos of the landscape.

In J Hags class we went back to the international district to find inspiration for a descriptive essay we have coming up later in the week.  Had probably the best orange chicken of my life, as well as pomegranate frozen yogurt.  God that stuff was good.

Have class in about 20 minutes.  We start the color cluster in Foundations this week.  Not really too sure what it’s going to involve, but should be good!

Update on time/on the day of, tonight.  Promise.

Cornish: Day 25 & 26

Going to do this in a double dose instead of splitting it up, since today wasn’t much of anything.

Wednesday was a good day for Foundations.  We had our presentations and critique of our second cluster of work.  I was one of the last ones to go, which racked up the nerves, but also fried my brain listening to 15 minute presentation after 15 minute presentation.  Kristin busted out some cookies to help feed our hunger amidst the four hour long class. Gluten free double chocolate chunk cookies to be exact.  They tasted like air, which was weird, and didn’t help me get the sugar rush I was looking forward to. Oh well.  We were running low on time, so I had to speed through my presentation a bit, but I’m really happy with the work that I came out with over the last three weeks.  The next cluster is all about color, which I’m really looking forward to, should be fun.

Today I just had my Visual Art History class, and our test on Archaic to Hellenistic period Greece.  Shit was too easy.  If I didn’t get an A on that test, there is seriously something wrong with me.

Final teacher presentations tomorrow.  Looking forward to seeing some more of their work.  Not sure what were doing in J Hags.  Supposedly going somewhere, but that always seems to be weather dependent.  Praying for no rain.

G’night!

Cornish: Day 24

Alright guys and gals, finally somewhat of a legitimate update for you.

The day started off well, had lunch with Samantha, and had a nice talk.

Foundations today was good.  Finally got to head up to El Corazon to take the pictures I needed for my photo book project.  Unfortunately no one was there, so I couldn’t go inside to take photos of the stage and what not, which was kind of a bummer.

The pictures I did get were exactly what I needed though. Here’s what they’ll look like printed for my project:

All the photos for my project are going to be printed 4x4.

Spent pretty much the entire foundations class taking/editing/test printing the photos.

Finishing the project up tomorrow night.

Should turn out great!

Took a photo of my car for the first time in forever. I like this spot.

Cornish: Day 23

Friday wasn’t all that interesting, besides seeing some of our professors work, including a new professor coming in next term, who I really hope I end up getting.

J Hags we did absolutely nothing.

Finished my Design Deck this weekend, should be finishing my photo book project by tomorrow night or Tuesday.

Lots to do.

Cornish: Day 22

Catching up yet again, this is for Thursday.

Continued learning about Greek art. Six pages worth of lecture notes.

So much to do for that class. Test next Thursday, essay due in two weeks, project due couple weeks into November.

Cornish: Day 21

Okay! Catching up now.

Today in Foundations with worked on our new project, our Photo Books.  Finally, I get to do something that is at least 80% photography based, instead of interpreting a project and making it into a photography one.

That thick board sitting in front of me was meant to be the material to use for our project, but it was way too thick for what I wanted to do, so I chowed done on some delectable Whole Foods goodness.

I’m really looking forward to seeing how Brenden’s is going to turn out.  I havn’t seen him this stoked on a project before.  Probably because he finally gets to do some sculpture work with metal wiring.  I’ll take some photos of his finished project.

Mines going to be a handmade CD case.  I got a good amount of it done and painted tonight, but I’ll take some photos of it when it’s closer to being completed.  All the photos inside of it are going to be music related.  I think it should turn out pretty well.

Other than that, I am so glad we finally found out, basically our mid term grades in Foundations today.  I was so stressed and paranoid about how I might be doing, to find out I had an A was a big weight lifted off my shoulders.

Update most likely late tomorrow after work.

If not, then a double dose on Friday.

G’night.

Cornish: Day 20

Oh hey what’s up another late update.

Today’s going to be a double dose, so I’ll make this one quick.

Monday:

Foundations was pretty cool.  First hour of it we had a speaker named Stelarc.  Some pretty weird stuff, but you should definitely check him out.  Then we just got a new assignment and finished our prints.

I honestly can’t remember a thing we did in Integrated Studies that day, sorry J Hags.

Cornish: Day 19

Sorry for the really late update.  This is all about Friday at school.

Friday was a short day, only had my Foundations class, which is two hours shorter than normal on Fridays, and all we did was go to a gallery in the International District.

The gallery is called the Lawrimore Project, and the artist of this piece, and the entire show that was there, is Saul Berk.  I didn’t bother taking photos of any of the other pieces of work, even though they were very interesting, but this one stood out far more than the rest.  For obvious reasons the florescent orange plexiglass.

Anyways, that was really about it.  Excited for next week, not sure what we’ll be doing.

Update tomorrow.

Cornish: Day 18

Visual Arts History was a lot more interesting today.  I think I like looking at all the Greek and Roman stuff a lot more than old cave paintings.  The fact that they blind painted still blows my mind.  Have a new Seattle Art Museum Project thats due in a month.  Should be fun.  Off to work for now.

Cornish: Day 17

Completely forgot to do an update yesterday. So I’ll do a quick summary.

Printing press work in foundations.  Watched the rest of Helvetica.

Talked about different types of essays in Integrated Studies, getting a new one soon.

Cornish: Day 16

I think I need a new backpack.  It’s way too hard to fit my laptop, art supplies, and everything else I need in mine, and I hate not being able to take my camera with me to document everything. So yes, another update without photos.  Sucks I know.

In Foundations we went over the first part of our deck of cards assignment, which I posted before.  That was only  nine of the eighteen we had to do though, once I take a photo of the other half, I’ll throw it up here.  After that we started working on our scaling assignment.  We took a 2” by 4” drawing that we did, and scaled it to a life size painting.  Roughly 35” by 72”.  Wasn’t that bad.  It feel bad for the kids who show up in their little $400 outfits, and then watching them get paint all over it.  No aprons can be a bitch on the style front, lolz.  We got the rest of our deck of cards project assigned after that.  Have a week to work on it.  I’ll post up the progress on them along the way.  We have to bring in a type face on Wednesday for some printing press work, which should be fun.  Who knows of some good fonts?  I have a good amount, but looking for some suggestions on what people’s favorites are.  Personally I love Futura, so I’ll probably end up using that.

Integrated Studies was the usual.  Life discussions with J Hags > threw more stuff up on the Seattle timeline.  I’m just glad were not writing any more essays in that class for a couple weeks.

No classes tomorrow, so probably no update.  Unless I throw up the cards I’m working on.

Alex’s birthday was today.  Had a really good night.

Things are good.

G’night.

Cornish: Day 15

God, it is too early right now, and I don’t want to work. Oh well.

Yesterday was pretty good. Foundations was made up of looking at some of our professors work, which was really interesting, and that was about it.  We had about a two hour break in between classes.

Integrated Studies was really nice though.  We turned in our essays and then headed to the Opera House.  I have never been so mad at myself for not bringing my camera.  So here are some bad Photo Booth pictures so you can tell at least somewhat, what it was like.

Hoping next week will be just as interesting and fun as this week was.  Only have one project to work on this weekend, whew.

Until next week…

Really easy day.

Test in Visual Arts History. Got done early. Went and got my Mac Book Pro.

Went to work.

Now sleep.

Better update tomorrow!

Cornish: Day 13

Sorry for the late update.  Once again I forgot to take my camera with me today, but honestly, I wouldn’t have had enough time to take any photos today.  Even though I wish I had some of the work we did in class.

We turned in our Notan assignments today, seeing the differences in everyones was pretty cool.  Everyone had a different idea and perspective on how to do it.  After that we did our signature assignments.  We painted our signatures on a large cut out, and then cut that into smaller squares and rearranged it to make a design out of it.  Again, it was really interesting to see the contrast between everyones.  Some had really bold lines, while others were really intricate.  After that we watch part of the documentary Helvetica, which has always been one of my favorite documentaries.  I hope we get around to finishing it eventually.

Integrated Studies wasn’t all that interesting today, or I guess you could say yesterday now, ha.   We just got our last essays back.  There was no grade on mine, but judging by the comments, I’ll assume that it was an A paper.

Not the best of nights tonight.  Couple irritating things, but they got resolved.

Test tomorrow in Visual Art History, then straight to work afterwards.

I shouldn’t be up, at least class isn’t until 1:30 tomorrow.

Also, I really want an old Hasselblad 1000f.  God, those things are cool.  I need a film camera anyways, and they aren’t too expensive.  Under $200? Sounds like a deal to me, especially with the type of images you can get out of them.  Once I have the extra money laying around, I need to find one.  Oh wait, I bought a Mega Millions ticket tonight, and the jackpot is 105 million. Time for a camera equipment spending spree….or paying off school.  God what I would do with that money.  Oh well, getting carried away.

G’night.
